Barranquilla Carnival

A box is a covered stand with a numbered seat, raised high enough to see the floats whole. We work with premium-category boxes, not bleachers or mini boxes: the ones that include a welcome kit, live music, their own restrooms and food and beverage service. All three trips carry the pass for the three parades, at the venue the Carnival organization confirms.

On Vía 40 the three trips have exactly the same premium pass. What scales between tiers is the coronation, at the Romelio Martínez stadium: Palco Oro on Batalla, Alfombra Roja on Cumbia and Aliados del Patrimonio on Joselito, the best zone in the venue. Those are the three top categories in the stadium.

No. The organization does not allow outside food or drink into the boxes. That is why the hydration and food service in your box is arranged by us and already included.

Yes. The minimum age in the Vía 40 boxes is 7, and every minor needs their own ticket, without exception. The night events, coronation, Moy's a la Calle, Baila la Calle and Noche del Río, are for over-18s only.

No. Carnival tickets are issued in the holder’s name and for a fixed date, and once issued they admit neither refund nor transfer. It is the most rigid part of the trip, which is why we recommend settling your dates before we issue anything.

It depends on how many days you have. All three include the three parades from a premium box. Batalla is the shortest and flies out on Tuesday morning, so it misses Joselito’s burial. Cumbia adds that closing, one night of Moy's a la Calle, and moves up to Alfombra Roja for the coronation. Joselito adds the Noche del Río, the best zone in the venue, both nights of Moy's and a full cultural day. Write to us with your dates and we help you choose.

It is the window in which the published prices hold, through October 31, 2026: today, from USD 2,950 per person in a double room, without flights. Booking in this phase locks in the price you see. Two more stages follow: Phase 2, throughout November, with prices rising in steps, and the regular sale in December and January at the full rate. It is not a commercial tactic of ours: the official Carnival ticketing goes up in stages as February approaches, and we pass that ladder through exactly as it is.

There are three. Presale Phase 1, through October 31, 2026: the prices published on this page, locked in when you book. Presale Phase 2, throughout November 2026: prices rise in stages. Regular sale, in December 2026 and January 2027: the full rate, subject to whatever spots remain. The ladder mirrors the official Carnival ticketing; booking early is the only way to secure the Phase 1 price.

No, and that is deliberate. The Carnival draws travelers from Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Miami, Panama City, Madrid and Milan, and every route carries a very different fare. Averaging them into the price would make some people overpay. We prefer what you see published to be exactly what you receive on the ground, and to quote your flight separately from your real point of origin. We issue it and manage it for you.

Because the room we hold under contract is a King, with a maximum capacity of two people; triple occupancy does not exist in that category. The published "from" price, USD 2,950 per person without flights, is precisely that double room. If three or four of you travel, we quote another room category: tell us how many you are and we come back with the exact figure.

In practice, yes. In Colombia, accommodation for non-resident foreign tourists is excluded from VAT, so we take that tax off the hotel line of your quote. It applies on presentation of your passport and tourist entry stamp. We calculate it automatically once you tell us your nationality and country of residence.

Yes, and well in advance. High-category hotel stock in Barranquilla is limited and Carnival week fills almost entirely. Coronation boxes are sold whole, ten seats at a time, so the number of places per departure is small by design. Booking early is not a sales line here: it is the only way to secure box and hotel together.

You book with a deposit and settle the balance before departure. The euro figure is indicative: invoicing follows the exchange rate in force on the day of payment. We send you the payment schedule and the policies in writing before you transfer anything.

February is dry season on the Colombian Caribbean, with highs around 32 to 33 degrees and strong trade winds. The three parades are daytime and outdoors. Pack light cotton or linen, comfortable closed shoes, a cap or hat, sunglasses and high-factor sunscreen. Hydration in the box is on us. For the nights, something dressier: the coronation has a black-tie code.

The Carnival gathers hundreds of thousands of people and the city deploys a special operation. Our setup exists for exactly that: private door-to-door transfers, no public transport and no long walks through crowds, box access handled for you and a host at your side. As at any mass event, carry the bare minimum and leave documents and valuables in the hotel safe.

For children, with one formal condition: the minimum age in the boxes is 7 and every minor needs their own ticket. Night events are for over-18s only. For older adults, the factors to weigh are the heat and the hours outdoors; private transfers and a numbered seat in the box make the difference. Tell us who is traveling and we adjust the pace.

You do not get around alone. Every transfer is included and private, door to door: airport to hotel, hotel to each event and back. During Carnival there are major road closures on Vía 40 and Carrera 50, and travel times multiply. Your host handles that logistics.

It depends on your nationality. Most passports from Latin America, the United States, Canada and the European Union enter Colombia visa-free as tourists. Check your case in the official source airlines use, or with the Colombian consulate in your country, before booking. If you need an invitation letter or proof of booking for your application, we issue it.

It is not compulsory, but it is part of the fun. Cumbia and Joselito include a professional costume and make-up session before the Gran Parada de Comparsas. Batalla carries the basic kit and the costume can be added. At the Carnival nobody looks at you strangely for being in costume; they look at you strangely for not being.

February is peak dry season, so the odds are low. If the organization reschedules or cancels an event for reasons beyond its control, our team reworks the itinerary on the spot and proposes the best available alternative. Ticketing is governed by the policies of the Fundación Carnaval de Barranquilla, which we share with you in writing when you book.

It is the Carnival’s night for dancers. Moy's a la Calle runs on Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 p.m. with merengue, salsa and vallenato bills that in recent editions have brought Andy Montañez, Fruko y sus Tesos, José Alberto "El Canario", Hansel y Raúl, Sergio Vargas, Iván Villazón, Peter Manjarrés and Juan Piña. We choose it over other nights because the line-up is a level above and the room is full of people who know how to dance. If you prefer Baila la Calle, we add it as an option.

Salwa Maloof Habib, a 24-year-old barranquillera chosen on August 21, 2026 by the Carnival board. She holds a degree in International Relations from IE University in Madrid, runs the Clínica La Misericordia Internacional and is CEO of the Fundación Fulamic. She has danced since childhood and belongs to the cumbiamba La Misma Vaina. You can follow her on Instagram at @salwamaloof. The city’s first lady announced that this edition will be marked by solidarity with the regions of the country hit by the 2026 earthquake.

Not yet: as of this page, September 2026, there is no official name. The call to choose the 2027 Rey Momo, the popular counterpart to the Queen, opened in August 2026 and the choice is announced in the months beforehand. We update this page as soon as it is official. Queen and Rey Momo lead the four days of the party together.

Yes, and it is the most natural extension. Cartagena is about two hours away by road and Santa Marta a little further. After four days of Carnival, two or three calm Caribbean nights close the trip beautifully. We also build extensions to Tayrona, Palomino or Minca.

Yes, that is our craft: every trip is a base we tailor to you. You can move up a zone in the coronation box, add nights, change room category, bring your own photographer, add an extra night of Moy's a la Calle or Baila la Calle, or a beach extension. Places per edition are few, partly by design and partly because coronation boxes come in blocks of ten. Each booking travels with its own private transfer and its own host, so the pace is yours. If you want a fully private departure for your group, we build that too.
