For couples who celebrate by moving

Some couples want a volcano, a hanging bridge above the cloud forest and a sunrise at Machu Picchu. This route is built for them. Costa Rica delivers nature in its purest state with lodges facing Arenal and private hot springs at the end of the day. Peru adds altitude, history and one of the most moving arrivals in travel.

Here adventure comes with comfort: every night is spent in a lodge or design hotel, transfers are private and hikes are calibrated to your pace. We book the panoramic train to Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu tickets in the right time slot and a celebration dinner in the Sacred Valley.

What we would tell a friend

Advice from our travel designers: what we book first, what we avoid, and the details that turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.

01

Book Machu Picchu 3 months ahead

Time-slot tickets are limited and issued by name. It is the first thing we lock.

02

Sleep your first night in the Sacred Valley

It sits 600 meters lower than Cusco and acclimatization is far gentler. It reduces altitude sickness noticeably.

03

Costa Rica first, Peru after

Order matters: reaching altitude after an active week at sea level works better than the reverse.

04

Pack light layers

It rains in the cloud forest and Cusco is cold at night. Three light layers solve both climates.

05

Wear already broken-in boots

The Monteverde trails and the Machu Picchu terraces call for boots you have already broken in. Wear them at least two weeks before you travel.

06

Leave a rest night before flying home

Dropping from Cusco to sea level and then boarding a long flight is far easier with an extra night in Lima.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is this honeymoon physically demanding?

It is calibrated to each couple's fitness. Hikes are optional and set to your pace: there is a gentle version of every activity. Machu Picchu takes one to three hours of walking depending on the route chosen, and everything else is up to you.

How much does this honeymoon cost?

The 14 to 16 day route starts at USD 5,600 per person in double occupancy and includes lodges and hotels, domestic flights, panoramic train, entrance tickets, private guides and transfers. International flights are quoted separately.

When is the best time?

May to September is dry season in Peru, ideal for Machu Picchu. In Costa Rica the dry season runs December to April. The overlapping window is May, June, July and August, when both destinations work well.

What about altitude sickness?

Cusco sits at 3,400 meters. That is why we plan the first night in the lower Sacred Valley and ascend gradually. Hotels offer oxygen and coca tea, and the itinerary leaves the first afternoon free.

What documents do we need?

Entry requirements depend on your nationality. The source airlines check is the IATA Travel Centre, where you can verify your exact case before buying tickets.
