The essence

La dolce vita in three acts

Italy tops the Virtuoso Luxe Report 2026 as the most desired destination in the world, and this route shows why. It opens in Rome, where the Colosseum and the baroque fountains are explored on foot and without hurry, continues to Florence and the Tuscan hills among cypresses and Chianti vineyards, and closes in Taormina, perched above the Ionian Sea with Mount Etna smoking in the background.

The pace moves from the eternal city to the countryside and from the countryside to the sea, so each stage shifts down a gear until total rest. We handle the fast train from Rome to Florence, the flight to Catania, private transfers and the tables at the trattorias and wineries that book out months ahead.

What we would tell a friend

Advice from our travel designers: what we book first, what we avoid, and the details that turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.

01

Fly into Rome and out of Catania

An open-jaw ticket saves an entire leg and a travel day. We always quote it this way.

02

Save Taormina for last

Rome and Florence ask for walking and looking; Sicily gives the calm back. In that order the trip ends in rest.

03

In Tuscany, move with a private driver

Chianti roads are narrow and the tastings include wine. With a driver you both enjoy every winery.

04

Book the Vatican and the Uffizi weeks ahead

Timed tickets sell out fast in high season. We arrange them as soon as the route is confirmed.

05

Go up Etna in the morning

Clouds tend to cover the crater after midday. With an early start the view over the Ionian is complete.

06

Keep one unplanned afternoon per stage

Italy rewards the pause: a coffee on the piazza, a walk with no destination. We design the itinerary with that breathing room.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for an Italy honeymoon?

May to June and September to October: long days, gentle temperatures and a warm Ionian Sea. July and August are very hot and the sites fill up. Winter works for a quiet, city-focused version of the route, except for the year-end holidays, when prices rise.

How much does this honeymoon cost?

The 10 to 12 day route starts at USD 5,900 per person in double occupancy and includes accommodation, the Rome–Florence train, the flight to Catania, private transfers and the listed experiences. International flights are quoted separately.

Train or car for Tuscany?

The fast train covers Rome–Florence in an hour and a half and is the best way to arrive. For the Chianti hills we recommend a private driver: the roads are narrow, the tastings include wine, and this way you both enjoy the landscape without driving.

What is the minimum number of days?

Ten days cover Rome, Tuscany and Taormina at a good pace. With twelve you add an extra night in the countryside and another in Sicily, which is the version we recommend.

What documents do we need?

Entry requirements depend on your nationality and change often. The source airlines check is the IATA Travel Centre, where you can verify your exact case before buying tickets.
